What is a system refresh?
- A system refresh is great for computers that are loaded with malware and numerous programs. They are usually running very slowly. We will backup all your data (pictures, files, etc) to a cd or dvd. We then format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system, download all patches and updates, install drivers needed for your hardware (printers, etc)and restore your backed up data. You system is like new and running better. For an additional charge, we can install software that will prevent this from happening again.
Do you sell Parts?
- Yes we do. We can even get parts for older computers with some of our suppliers. But no matter what you want we can get it. We DON'T keep a large inventory however so there may be a delay of a few days as your parts are ordered. Some parts, like for older computers, cannot be found locally and have to be ordered online. We also build custom computers.
Is wireless secure?
- It should be. Unfortunately a lot of homeowers purchase wireless routers and access points and don't configure them properly. This opens them up to at the least, giving away free internet access to a neighbor and at the worst, someone accessing their computer and seeing private information. Properly configured, however, wireless networks can be very secure.
How often should I backup my data?
- First of all, you should backup...period. Most people never backup their data so when something catastrophic happens all their important data is usually gone. Some data recovery can be done and we can help. As far as how often, that really depends on how often your data changes. If you are running a business or doing something that changes regularly (like your checking account, resume's, etc) then you should probably backup a minimum of once per week. If you don't do any of that and just occasionally upload your picture files from a digital camera then you probably don't need to backup very often, maybe once per month or at least after you upload some pictures, etc.
What is the advantage of carry in versus on-site?
- With Carry in service, or pickup and drop service, we have your PC in our lab, complete with high speed broadband internet service (useful for patches, updates and driver downloads), access to a much wider array of tools and support software as well as easier data backup and migration. Often if your pc is infected with virus' and spyware, the cleaning and removal process can take some time. We can start the process and work on other customers computers at the same time. Of course if you are just wanting to setup a new computer, or are having trouble with getting on the internet or getting some peripheral (printer, etc) to work, then onsite support is best.
